Bruised, battered and blistered.. probably not three words you would want to describe something you have finished for ‘fun’ but that was how the participants felt after completing a huge trek in the Brecon Beacons!

The start of July saw teams of staff, members and clients of Better Gym Mere Green and Game on Sports Therapy take on an incredible trek of distances covering 25km and 50km through the beautiful scenery of the Brecon Beacons in the Trekfest challenge.

The day started with a steady stroll along the canal before taking a turn to a steep ascent off road through farm land and rolling hills of the picturesque Welsh landscapes. Welcomed relief came with 3 checkpoints along the routes to replenish food and water and have a well earned sit down. Event staff and Mountain Rescue were there to help support and aid all the walkers and did an incredible job to keep everyone safe. The trek ended with a final challenge of climbing the infamous Pen Y Fan at 886m- the mountain the armed forces use to train on for their final tests!

Natalie, of Game On Sports Therapy organised the teams as a fund raising event for Alzheimers Society bringing together a community of like-minded individuals to raise over £2,800 for the charity!

If you would like to help Natalie and her team reach the target of £3,000 speak to a member of the gym team or find her page on Facebook- Game On Sports Therapy!

Well done to everyone who participated- it is an amazing achievement!
