Members and staff from Eastern Leisure Centre aged from 14 – 65 years came together on the 9th July 2022 to form Team Eastern and participated in this years Race for Life, Pretty Muddy event.

For those that are not aware; Race for Life, Pretty Muddy isn’t like any other fundraising event.

It's a 5k muddy obstacle course that everyone, no matter what their fitness level, can take part in!

Participants climb, crawl and slide their way to raise money to help beat cancer.

Team Eastern was made up of over 20 members from Eastern Leisure Centre and the local community and was lead by Eastern’s General Manager Nikki.

The team had great fun tackling obstacles such as ‘The A Frame’, ‘Spiders Web’ Cargo nets, Giant Space Hoppers, and the ‘Mud Slide’. General Manager Nikki said “It was great fun and an ideal event for us all to do together for a great cause. We were not just pretty muddy we were covered and had lots of laughs along the way….top tip for the future, bring a black bag to sit on in the car for your journey home afterwards!”

Team Eastern managed to fundraise an impressive £1,920 plus an additional £443.75 in Gift Aid for Cancer Research UK. Team Eastern raised a grand total this year of £2,363.75 in donations.

Everyone was fantastic, worked hard, and showed great Team Eastern spirit.

Well done again Team Eastern! Thank you for all you do and keep up the good work, on to the next challenge!?
