Glass Mill to host Dementia Awareness Event
On Monday 19th May Glass Mill will host a Dementia Awareness event
As part of Dementia Action Week Glass Mill Leisure Centre will be hosting the first of a series events happening across the London Borough of Lewisham.
The series of events are being organised and delivered by the Lewisham Dementia Action Alliance team (Lewisham Dementia Support Service/Alzheimer’s Society). Dementia Action Week will take place from 19th-25th May 2025, where we will continue raise awareness of the importance of an early diagnosis for people affected by dementia.
Diagnosis is vital to give people access to the care, treatment and support they desperately need. Yet, incredibly, 1 in 3 people with dementia do not have a diagnosis.
Across Dementia Action Week in the London Borough of Lewisham the following events will be taking place:
- Monday 19th May 10.30am–3pm at Glass Mill Leisure Centre “Dementia Awareness Promotion Day”
- Tuesday 20th May 11am-12.30pm at The Waldron Health Centre “Lets Talk About Dementia”
- Wednesday 21st May 11am–2pm at both Lewisham Hospital and Lewisham Shopping Centre “Advice and Information Sessions”
- Thursday 22nd May 11.30am–2pm The Waldron Health Centre “Social Prescribers Session”
- Friday 23rd May 11am–1pm Good Hope Café (Ladywell Fields) “Walk in the Park”
The event at Glass Mill Leisure Centre will consist of Dementia awareness day presentation with light refreshments, music, stalls, and many other activities.
Glass Mill Leisure Centre is located on Loampit Vale and can be reached via bus, train and DLR.
The aim of the week is to raise awareness, education, knowledge sharing, support and connection
