Giving Trees: Donate a Christmas Gift to a Child in Need
This December, we’re inviting all Better leisure centre members across Waltham Forest to share the Christmas spirit and donate a gift to help bring joy to children who may not otherwise receive a present this festive season. Many families in our community are experiencing hardship, and with your support, we can ensure that children identified by Social Services, Waltham Forest’s Family Hubs and local community groups will wake up to something special on Christmas morning.
From Monday December 1st until Sunday 14th December, each Better leisure centre in Waltham Forest will have a Giving Tree, a Christmas decorated with tags. Each tag represents a child and includes their age and gender. By selecting a tag, you can choose a gift between £10 and £20 that is both thoughtful and suitable, maximising the chances that the child will truly enjoy what they receive.
Once you’ve selected your tag, simply purchase a gift you feel is appropriate and return it—unwrapped—along with the tag to the collection point at the leisure centre. Our team and community partners will then make sure it reaches the child in time for Christmas.
This small act of kindness can make a huge difference and giving is one of the 5 ways to improve your mental well-being. Furthermore, your gift may be the only one the chosen children receive. Your generosity will not only give them something to open but also remind them that there are people in their community who care.
We know our members are compassionate and community-minded, and this initiative is a wonderful opportunity to come together and make a meaningful impact. Whether you choose a book, a board game, a puzzle, or a toy, your present will deliver joy, warmth, and hope this holiday season.
If you have any questions, you can contact a member of staff in centre or email Community Sport Manager, Daniel.Bank@GLL.ORG.
Please donate by Sunday 14th December and help us make Christmas magical for as many children in Waltham Forest as we can.
Thank you for your kindness and support in this new initiative.
