Consultation Update - 15th July 2021

The Council completed a series of Public Consultation Events in May 2021.  These events provided the opportunity for the local community to discuss plans with the project team and provide comments on proposals to help shape the final scheme.

Following a high volume of comments, the planning application was subsequently placed on hold to provide time to review, address and assimilate information. Following consultation review, the Council have agreed with local members to withdraw the current development application and will now work to bring forward a revised scheme at the Hough End site.

The Council will shortly re-engage funders to discuss options for consideration to address comments raised by local Councillors, residents and community groups as part of the consultation process.  On completion of this work, the Council will organise further consultation and engagement sessions with the local community to present and discuss revised plans and proposed options for consideration.

This will provide residents and community groups with further opportunities to influence the next steps and engage in meaningful discussions with the Councils project team to shape the final plans at the Hough End site.

The Council is targeting to hold further consultation meetings at the end of August 2021.  All residents that have registered their contact details as part of consultation process, alongside existing site users and local community groups will be notified of the details of consultation meetings in due course.

The Council would like to thank all residents and community groups who have engaged in the community consultation to date.  The Council have listened carefully to what residents have had to say and will now reflect on the feedback that has been provided to shape the revised scheme. Plans will be shared in due course and we look forward to holding further engagement with residents and community groups to inform the final plans at Hough End site.
