The Girls In Motion squash festival, hosted by Lancashire Junior Squash, took place at the National Squash Centre on the 3rd of March. The incredible turnout of 52 girls of all abilities aged between 4 and 17 kept all the courts buzzing throughout the day. With the majority of the players from Manchester and the North West, a small competition took place for the furthest distance travelled - Carlisle, Porthmadog, Edgbaston, Lincoln & Beverley!

Current professional squash player and former world no.20 Millie Tomlinson attended the National Squash Centre to meet, play and inspire the girls. Closing the festival saw an exhibition match on the all-glass show court between Millie and Mia. Mia, age 17, is a product of the Manchester Squash Academy programme. She stepped up brilliantly to entertain the full bleachers with Millie!

2024 was the second edition of the Girls In Motion Festival after the previous first edition in the summer of 2023. The festival aspires to encourage local clubs to engage more young girls playing the sport. Secondly, to inspire the girls, make the sport of squash more exciting and sustainable, and make them feel part of something larger than themselves.

The search for the 2025 date now begins!
