What do our customers have to say?

“I’ve made a few friends in different classes here. It’s always fun, everyone’s always smiling and really happy. I like to bring my friends to classes as well to show them what I’ve been doing when they can’t get through to me on a Monday night.” -  Kimberley, a Better Member

Frequently asked questions

What should I wear to my fitness class?

For all types of fitness classes, we recommend wearing comfortable leisure or sports clothing that allows you to move around easily. Make sure to wear suitable footwear for the activity. For aqua classes, appropriate swimwear is required.

What should I bring to my fitness class?

Most of the time, all you need to bring is yourself! We recommend a bottle of water to help you stay hydrated and a small towel for your own comfort. Lockers are available at our gyms and leisure centres to store personal items like bags, as these are not permitted in the studios.

If your class requires equipment, it will be provided during the session. However, you’re welcome to bring your own equipment, such as a yoga or Pilates mat, if you’d like. If you prefer to lift weights with gloves, you can also wear them for class.

I’m pregnant, are your fitness classes suitable for me?

Low-impact, gentle exercise classes such as yoga and mindfulness may be suitable for some pregnant women. However, everyone is different, and if there’s any doubt, you should speak with your doctor before participating in any type of fitness class.

What can I expect at my first fitness class?

When joining a Better exercise class, you can expect to learn something new, have fun, and challenge yourself. Whatever your goal is when joining a fitness class, we want you to leave the class feeling motivated and confident. Exercise classes are also a great way to make friends in a fun and social setting while working towards your health and fitness goals.

What is the best fitness class for beginners?

For beginners, we recommend starting with Basics classes. These are designed to build your confidence and include lower-intensity movements to help you ease into fitness. Options include Mind and Body Basics, Cardio Basics, Dance Basics, and Strength and Conditioning Basics. Each class is tailored to help you feel comfortable while progressing at your own pace.

What is the best exercise class for weight loss?

Cardio-based fitness classes like HIIT, Group Cycle, or Dance are all excellent for weight loss. These high-energy sessions are designed to burn calories while improving your stamina and overall fitness. However, for best results, it’s a good idea to also include some strength classes alongside cardiovascular exercise like walking, running or training.

To lose weight safely and sustainably, you should aim to combine regular exercise classes with a healthy, balanced diet
