Bodmin Leisure Centre held its first free taster session of Social Walking Football, last Friday - 1st March.

This is Better Cornwall's 3rd centre to offer this activity within its programme.

A collaboration with Cornwall County Football Association and local walking football clubs, has seen sessions grow at both Liskeard Leisure Centre and more recently started St Austell Leisure Centre.

A partnership with Lanivet Walking Football Club has enabled Bodmin Leisure Centre to establish its own session of Social Walking Football.

With its offer of 5 Free Taster Sessions over the next 6 weeks, it hopes to establish, after these tasters, a regular Friday morning session, at an affordable price.

Walking sports are a great way to be introduced to activity, for those that are looking to improve their physical and mental health. They provide health benefits and an opportunity to meet new people, and engage in a fun, enjoyable and social setting.

Will Snapes - Cornwall Football Association Development Officer (CCFA) (Male & Youth), said, "We are really pleased with the responses we are having at the walking football sessions at the Better Centre's, and great to be launching the sessions at Bodmin Leisure Centre today."

Ed Stigle - Community Sport Officer said, "We hope to increase the sessions at Bodmin Leisure Centre and are grateful for the support both CCFA and Lanivet Walking Football Club are doing to help us achieve this."

The 1st of March's session was our first free session with a further four sessions already scheduled see below.

Further free Taster Sessions will be held on the following dates:

Friday 15th March 9am-10.30am

Friday 29th March 9am-10.30am

Friday 5th April 9am-10.30am

Friday 12th April 9am-10.30am

So, come along and join us for some walking football, that is fun, enjoyable, in a social and welcoming environment.

We look forward to seeing new faces.
