Sutton Gymnastics Academy Success!
The incredibly talented gymnasts at Sutton Gymnastics Academy have recently entered the British Gymnastics London Club and Regional Grades competition at Heathrow Gymnastics Club, achieving fantastic results.
The Club and Regional Grades competition is for selected gymnasts who are showing high levels of potential. It is a National development route with gymnasts competing across the whole of London. The aim of the competition is to pass the grade and move onto the next one. There are a set amount of marks needed to achieve a pass, a commendation or, for the highest level, a distinction. If gymnasts pass they move on to the next grade where the skills become harder. The gymnasts start from Club Level 6, then 5, then move on to Regional grades 4-1, and finally onto National levels.
In Club Grade 6 we had 8 gymnasts enter, all ‘in age’: Casey, Saskia, Hanya, Zosia, Sophie, Annie, Emily and Polina. 'In age' simply means that the gymnasts are entered at the youngest age they can be for that grade. All of the gymnasts passed their grade with 2 Distinctions, 5 Commendations and 1 Pass. As well as this Zosia received a 4th place overall ribbon!
In Club Grade 5 we had 3 gymnasts entered, all also ‘in age’. Incredible results were achieved with Maya coming 4th overall, passing with a Distinction, and Elizabeth and Aiya passing with a Commendation.
In Regional Grade 4 we had 4 gymnasts entered, all ‘in age’. We are pleased to say that everyone passed with Beth coming 9th, Esmé 4th, Sophia 3rd and Jacequeline 2nd!
In Regional Grade 2 we had 2 gymnasts entered, both ‘in age’. Alyssa passed with a Distinction and a 6th place overall ribbon, and Bea also passed with a Commendation.
Finally for our highest level, Regional Grade 1 we are hugely pleased to announce Soyeon competed ‘in age’ and received an amazing 3rd place overall, with a Distinction!
To compete against, and outscore, many of the best young gymnasts in London is a real testament to the hard work, skill and dedication of both the gymnasts and the excellent coaches at Sutton Gymnastics Academy. Massive congratulation to all the gymnasts who competed, every single one of them made us incredibly proud and we look forward to seeing how they develop further in future Grades competitions!
Easter Holiday Camps
Suitable for any level of gymnast, our 3 hour Gymnastics Holiday Camps allow for extra training or a taster of what’s on offer at Sutton Gymnastics Academy. Coaches will be on hand to instruct stretches, warm-ups and top tips on how to improve their technique and use our competition standard equipment.

Sutton Gymnastics Academy
Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or elite gymnast, classes are available across all levels and forms of gymnastics; from floor and vaults squads to display work and women’s artistic events. Under the guidance of highly qualified British Gymnastics coaches, our classes and squads run 48 weeks per year and accommodate a variety of ages too; from toddlers, children, teens to adults, we have something for everyone.
Please note that demand for classes is very high and we have waiting lists in place for most classes. If you cannot find a space on your preferred course please send your enquiry through to suttongymnasticsacademy@gll.org so we can review your request.
Once a space becomes available we will contact you to advise how you can secure your child’s place. Please note that we can only hold spaces for a short period of time so if we do not hear from you we will offer the space to the next person on the waiting list.
