Menopause Wellbeing Support Launches Across Cardiff Leisure Centres
We’re excited to announce the rollout of our new Menopause Strength classes across Cardiff—part of our ongoing commitment to supporting customers through every stage of life. These sessions create inclusive, encouraging environments where women experiencing peri‑ or post‑menopause can build strength, improve wellbeing, and connect with others who share similar experiences.
Why this matters
Menopause can bring a variety of physical and emotional changes, and strength training is proven to be one of the most effective ways to help manage them. Regular resistance exercise supports bone density, balance, energy and mood—areas often affected during menopause. Many participants also tell us that the sense of community, motivation and routine provided by these classes is just as valuable as the exercise itself.
A strong start across the city
Following their launch at Eastern, Llanishen and Western Leisure Centres, the sessions have already seen fantastic engagement. At Eastern Leisure Centre (pictured), classes reached full capacity almost immediately, leading to additional sessions being added. These too filled quickly, with waiting lists now in place—highlighting just how important this support is within our communities.
Participants have shared how beneficial the blend of strength training, peer connection and the chance to enjoy “a cuppa and a chat” afterwards has been in boosting confidence and reducing feelings of isolation.
What’s next
With such a strong response, we’re exploring opportunities to expand the programme even further to ensure more women can access these valuable sessions in the coming months.
