Following on from the success of last year’s Pen Y Fan climb. Team Eastern are once again joining forces with members from Better Eastern Leisure Centre to support Better member Daniela during Mental Health Awareness Week to conquer another challenge for an amazing charity.

On Sunday 14th May 23 Team Eastern, made up of Eastern Leisure Centre staff and a group of amazing Better members will be completing the Brecon Beacons horseshoe circular walk. The walk is a total of 10 miles in distance and includes popular mountain trails such as Corn Du (872m), Pen Y Fan (886m), Cribyn (795m) and Fan Y Big (717m). It’s expected to take the Better team approximately 5 hours to complete this epic challenge.

The team aim to raise awareness and funds to help support BEAT an Eating Disorder Charity. Better Eastern member Daniela reached out to BEAT seeking much needed support with her eating disorder when she needed it and now wants to give back. BEAT provides support to people who have eating disorders and advice on support to family and friends of people with eating disorders.

Daniela made a full recovery from her eating disorder with help from family, friends, and Nikki (Eastern Leisure Centre) and tremendous support from BEAT’s online support group and help lines.

“It’s important to me to raise money for BEAT because I want people to know that they are not alone in their battle with their eating disorder, that there is help and support out there. No one should face an eating disorder alone.

I never knew about BEAT until I was facing my own battle with an eating disorder. Thankfully with the help and support off BEAT, my family, friends and Nikki, I made a full recovery. By coming together to raise money for BEAT it will help the charity to help and support more people to make a full recovery and to win in their fight”

Daniela and Team Eastern took on Pen-Y-fan in 2022 to celebrate Daniela’s success in her recovery and to raise awareness and support for BEAT Eating Disorders Charity. This year the challenge is even greater, but walking with amazing people, supporting each other when the going gets tough and having plenty of laughs they will conquer it.

Daniela has set up a Just Giving page to help raise a target of £1000. If you would like to help raise awareness of eating disorders and support the charity, you can donate
