New Beginnings for Broadway Leisure Centre
In January this year the future of Broadway Leisure Centre was secured, with GLL the UK’s largest leisure charitable social enterprise appointed to manage the much loved New Moston facility on behalf of Manchester Active.
Since then investment from Manchester City Council combined with improvements made by GLL have seen the following changes:
- Refurbished gym with brand new equipment, new flooring and fresh new look and feel
- New sauna cabin and refurbished steam room
- Introduction of the Better Swim School
- New internal and external signage
- New windows
- Introduction of online booking for activities and the Better UK app
- New website better.org.uk/broadway
The Open Day on Sunday 25th June will run from 10am to 5pm and existing customers and members of the local community can come along and see for themselves the improvements that have been made at the centre.
The Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Yasmine Dar will be in attendance to meet customers and tour the centre.
A packed programme of free activities includes swimming, fun and floats sessions, gym sessions and opportunities to take part in Club taster sessions including lifesaving and competitive swimming. Sessions are free but need to be booked in advance. Local residents can also just drop in and take a look, members of the centre team will be on hand to give tours.

The facility improvements are really positive and the Better Swim School is growing from strength to strength and enables local youngsters and adults the opportunity to learn a valuable life skill in the unique 23 yard pool at the centre.”
Councillor John Hacking, Executive Member for Skills, Employment and Leisure at Manchester City Council said “We’re very pleased that our strategic partner GLL have stepped in to take over the management of Broadway Leisure Centre. It is a much loved, well used centre and ensures that the community of New Moston can continue to can get active and enjoy a healthy lifestyle. The Open Day will be a great way of welcoming the community in to see the great opportunities on their doorstep”
