Eastern Leisure Centre would like to congratulate Celyn Poulsen, Harley Holland, Scott Steer and Pam Curtis on completing their National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). Celyn, Harley, and Jack Devine make up a pool of recent casual Recreational Assistants recruited into the BETTER family. Pam is a well known face with our customers and has been with us long term and has re-qualified as a lifeguard after many years.

Celyn, Scott, Harley, Pam and Jack are from the local community and took the opportunity to train and develop to become nationally accredited lifeguards. They underwent an intensive 7 day course at Eastern delivered by probationary Trainer Assessor Jason Nash, passing theory and practical exams to become qualified lifeguards. Celyn, Harley, and Jack also recently qualified as swimming teachers through the STA training programme offered by Better. They now start their journey within the leisure industry – welcome to the team!

The National Pool Lifeguard qualification is great to have it provides holders with taking first steps into the leisure industry opening up an array of opportunities, progressions and further qualifications. These include STA Swim teacher awards, Gym Instructor and group fitness instructor qualifications, sales, managerial training and provides not just experience but many transferable skills and attributes.

If you would like to know more about the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or would like to know more about courses being run you can enquire with the your local BETTER Centre, visit our website or social media for community related information, or check out the RLSS website for available courses nationally.
