This year’s event proved to be as popular and successful as ever. Around 40 people took part in the combined Rookie and Club rescue skills competition. This involved being assessed demonstrating a shout and signal rescue, reach rescue, rope throw, wading rescue and a swim and non-contact tow rescue. Each rescue was marked out of 10 and the winning Rookie was Beth and the winning Club member was Josh- both scoring 42 out of 50.. The judges were very impressed with the skills demonstrated by all the club members, in particular those who are quite new to lifesaving.

We then went into the community room and split into teams to take part in a water safety quiz. This included a team of parents (who did pretty well). The evening closed with Carl showing everyone the award we have recently won for being the most successful lifesaving club within the East Wales Branch for 2017. This is an award we have won for the last several years.

This proved to be another successful DPW event, something Pentwyn lifesaving club has run every year since the introduction of Drowning Prevention Week.
